North Carolina Big Tobacco Protection Act (H900)
What's happening?
NC Bill H900, a bill containing legislation sometimes referred to as a "PMTA Registry" bill, has been made law. H900 allows the state to enforce the FDA's PMTA regulations, effectively making all but a select few vape products illegal in North Carolina.
This bill will have a disastrous impact on the industry and the people it serves, putting independent vape shops out of business, hundreds of workers out of their jobs, and thousands of people at risk of returning to smoking.
We must act now in order to ensure access to your favorite vape products remains intact. Tell your lawmakers to amend H900!

Dear Representative,
I urge you to amend the recently passed H900.
H900 allows the state to enforce the FDA's PMTA regulations, effectively making all but a select few vape products illegal in North Carolina. The “PMTA Registry” bill is sweeping the nation and now targets all independent vape shops in North Carolina. The PMTA process is flawed, under litigation in several parts of the country, and should not be relied upon as settled law from the federal government.
If left as is, hundreds of businesses will die overnight and thousands of North Carolinians will become unemployed when it goes into effect. Not only will it drastically affect the economy of North Carolina, estimating a loss of $447.4 million to our economy, failing to amend the bill could lead to increased cigarette use by removing vaping alternatives. This is what Big Tobacco wants and is why they've pushed so hard for it.
I understand the importance of regulatory measures to safeguard public health, and I believe we should all work together for responsible practices within this industry. BUT, I urge you to consider the broader implications of this bill on local businesses and employment.
I kindly request an opportunity to discuss this matter further with you to provide additional information and perspectives that may assist in your decision-making process.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Your thoughtful consideration of the potential consequences for both employment and public health in North Carolina is greatly appreciated.
Respectfully Submitted,
[YOUR NAME]
